An idea I’ve been playing around with for my next series is adding anatomy sketches of insects, lizards & humans to my abstract art.  The technique I’m going to use will let the sketches become part of the abstract shapes and colours of the painting!  They will basically morph into the abstract shapes!

Because of this there will have to be a lot more control in my technique seeing that I’ll have a definite clear picture of what the end result should look like.  This is different to what I’m use to; seeing that I let the creative process usually take its course.

“Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult.  It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colours, and that you be a true poet.  This last is essential.”

Wassily Kandinsky: One of the most famous 20th century artists, he is credited with painting the first modern abstract works.

My name is Adri Botha and I’m based in Cape Town, South Africa.

My art is a true extension of myself a free flowing energy within ever changing and moving forward. An emotional landscape captured on canvas using rich colours, texture and shape.

I find that my art resembles the form of projective/inkblot tests used in psychology which is designed to let a person respond to ambiguous stimuli, presumably revealing hidden emotions & internal conflict.
